About the role
SIGN-ON BONUS ELIGIBLE
As a Control Room Operator, you will execute the approved plant start-up and shutdown procedures to ensure that the facility meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities:Provide guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation
Effectively monitor Covanta operations systems and have a strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations
Experienced in reading blueprints, P&IDs, and schematic specifications
Manage critical events and prioritize tasks for completion at times during emergency, providing clear directions in operational, safety, and environmental tasks
Respond to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action
Demonstrate a solid understanding of operational best practices, including theability to problem solve and make sound decisions that supports Covanta's safety and operational goals
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of the ASME QRO Provisional Licensing exam is required within the first year of holding the position
Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
