Merrick & Company is looking for a Project Accountant to join our team at our company headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Support:

  • Set up and revise projects in Merrick's financial system (Deltek Costpoint).
  • Prepare client invoices, monitor unbilled amounts and be able to explain non-current amounts.
  • Demonstrate competence in various accounting software applications, both internal & external client software.
  • File and organize contracts, modifications, and change orders.
  • Reconcile jobs to close out.
  • Serve as liaison between Clients, Project Managers, and Finance & Accounting team as needed.

Project Cost:

  • Knowledge of project cost accounting principles.
  • Experience and knowledge of federal government billing and rate adjustment process is a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred or minimum prior experience in a project accounting/similar financial industry role.
  • Ability to identify and escalate, as appropriate, potential project issues with recommendation for solutions.
  • Demonstrated capabilities for review, analysis and reporting project status to Project Managers.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy in all requirements of the position.
  • Proven ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously including collecting and analyzing information in a complex, fast paced operating environment.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret various types of contract documentation.
  • Must be able to articulate and write clear, concise, and informed communications to staff members, operational employees, and senior management in person, via email, and in group settings.
  • Ability to calculate and analyze numerical data.
  • Proven ability to learn new systems quickly is essential.
  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

Additional Requirement

  • Employment for this position is dependent upon the successful completion of a credit check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
